I am one of the founders and medical directors of the American Center for Biological Medicine (ACBM), and I am happy to bring my medical expertise and compassionate care to ACBM.
I graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Exercise Physiology. I then pursed my doctorate degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. I have been blessed to have gained an international presence with clinics in both Canada and the United States and I am sought out regularly by organizations and elite athletes for my medical expertise. My supplement line, PeakBio (www.peakbiology.com), is being utilized by the best coaches and practitioners in the fields of health and fitness.
I pride myself on being a leading authority in the fields of European Biological Medicine, chronic and autoimmune disease treatments, detoxification, hormonal imbalance correction and customized sports medicine and nutrition programs. My love of medicine has evolved into a vast clinical focus treating men, women and children from the youngest to the oldest. My passion for learning has regularly led me to travel the world attending seminars, educating others and spending time with the most talented people in medicine.
Dr. Dickson Thom, DDS, ND has 40+ years of experience as a clinician and over 20 years as a medical professor. He lectures extensively throughout North America and is the author of two books, “Coping with Food Intolerances” and “Unda Numbers: An Energetic Journey to Homeostasis and Wellness.”
I bring my 40+ years of medical experience as a clinician and teacher to ACBM. I have been teaching doctors, students and the lay public in proven medical principles and business skills for over 35 years. My first post doctoral degree was obtained from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in 1974. I then received my first Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine in Canada in 1986. In 1989, I completed a second degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. I was the past Dean of Naturopathic Medicine at NCNM and was a full-time professor teaching clinical and physical diagnosis, gastroenterology, x-ray practicum, neurology, and business entrepreneurship for 23 years. I have lectured extensively throughout North America and have written and collaborated on many articles dealing with energy medicines and nutrition.
I have authored two books, Coping with Food Intolerances and Unda Numbers: An Energetic Journey to Homeostasis and Wellness. In 2009, I received a very prestigious honor and was awarded “The Vis Award” from the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians for my commitment to the Healing Power of Nature as demonstrated through my work, life, and community service. In addition to being a full time professor, I had a private practice in Portland, Oregon for 23 years with a primary focus on the management of chronic disease, including autoimmune disease, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal problems, and endocrine disorders. The therapies I utilize focus on optimal lifestyle choices for each specific condition, including dietary, sleep, and exercise recommendations, supplementation and herbal medicine, a European form of homeopathy called ‘biotherapeutic drainage’, and hydrotherapy
For the last 5 years I have focused on building this state of the art clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. ACBM provides exceptional care to all patients from young babies to the elderly using the therapies and philosophy that was perfected from my 23 years in Portland. Health is a reflection of physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic balance, and I remain committed to helping people overcome obstacles to achieving this essential equilibrium.
For fun, I am passionate about my family, including my 6 amazing grand children, ice hockey as I have been a loyal Boston Bruin fan for over 60 years and traveling around the world, mostly on cruise ships (17 so far and counting).
My name is Megan Whiting and I am the Clinical Manager here at The American Center for Biological Medicine. I have worked at this amazing clinic for 4 years. ACBM has not only been a great source of employment but has truly enlightened me to make better choices for my family. I am passionate about Allopathic Medicine and the Biological approach we have here. I have a personal testimony of how taking the natural approaches can truly work.
In my time away from the clinic I love spending time with my family. If I wasn’t a nurse here at ACBM I could see myself spending most of my day horseback riding (western style), building and being crafty with wood, laying on the beach in San Carlos, Mexico where my in-laws own a Condo or learning how to play the piano. I have always wanted to learn to play but never took it seriously as a child. It’s never too late!
I truly love my job. Most aspects of my job are extremely rewarding. I love creating special bonds with my patients. Some of the greatest patients are now some of the people I call friend. Every patient that passes through our doors has a story, I am blessed with the opportunity to serve and comfort every one of these people and privileged to hearing their stories. We share in laughs and in tears and every time I get to talk about my job with a smile on my face.
My name is Jacque Scott, short for Jacquelyn, pronounced “Jake”. I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona with my 6 younger siblings. I have been an RN since the summer of 2014 and have worked at ACBM since August 2014. I met my husband in high school and we were married in August 2012. We live in Mesa with our son Camden who was born in March 2016. I spend all my time not at work with him and love being a mom! I love playing the piano, reading and decorating. Prior to working at ACBM I knew very little about biological medicine. As I have worked here and started my own family I have become more passionate about natural health and lifestyle.

Hello, my name is Richard Heacock. I am the Front Desk Coordinator for The American Center for Biological Medicine. What I love most about our clinic is the unique healing environment our doctors and staff are able to create for our patients. The doctors at ACBM are truly the best in their field and are constantly educating and promoting the process of obtaining optimal health. I enjoy sharing what I am learning about biological, natural, and holistic medicine and the process of treating the physiology of the body.
I live in Scottsdale with my partner, Tommy, and our Jack Russel terrier, Zak. In our spare time we love to be outdoors enjoying the beautiful Arizona weather. Our favorite activities are hiking, biking, and spending time in the pool.
Hi, my name is Amanda and I’m an IV certified LPN with ACBM. I’ve been with ACBM for 3 months now, however, I’ve been a nurse for over 5 years. I have worked in many different aspects of medicine all of which seemed to lead me to natural and biological medicine.
When I’m not working I am soaking up family time with my husband, baby boy, and 2 dogs. We enjoy hiking, yoga, working out, fishing, and reading. I am a huge animal lover and whenever I can sneak out of the house for a couple hours I can be found volunteering for the rescue AZK9. I also make my own herbal tea blends outside of work and enjoy researching natural medicine.
I love working at ACBM because the patients are so diverse and so ready to heal. It’s so important to me that I finally feel that I’m working somewhere where I am only helping, not hurting.
My name is Shari Yates, I am a native Arizona farm girl but I’ve spent most of my adult life in southern California. I’m married to my best friend, a rodeo clown/actor/entertainer and we have a family of horses and dogs. We love to hike, bike, ride horses and motorcycles when we’re not in the gym. After 30 years as a Plastic Surgery Patient Coordinator and 12 years as a Personal Trainer and fitness athlete/model, accepting the Patient Relations and Business Development Manager position at ACBM was the marriage of my dream jobs in an industry worthy of my passion for living fit, living happy and living healthy! I believe in an open door policy and want every patient to feel comfortable and welcome to stop in my office to share their patient experiences with me! My goal is to create a larger community awareness about ACBM and ensure patient satisfaction throughout the entire patient experience.
